Harford County Public Schools is excited to announce that the HCPS Patriot Program is now part of the instructional day in all elementary schools for the 2025–2026 school year.

The Patriot Program is designed to cultivate civic-minded students who understand the rich history of the United States, appreciate the democratic values that form the foundation of our society, and learn how to actively and responsibly contribute to their communities. Through engaging lessons and activities, students in Pre-K through Grade 5 will explore important values such as pride, responsibility, and respect.

Program Highlights:

  • Official Launch: The program kicks off on Constitution Day, September 17, with special lessons and activities.

  • Ongoing Learning: Throughout the year, students will study nine areas, including civics, geography, history, art, music, physical education, media literacy, economics, and service learning.

  • Home to School Connection: Families will receive the Patriot Pathways newsletter at the end of each unit with ideas to continue learning at home.

Additional Opportunities:

  • PTAs may offer optional “Beyond the Bell” Patriot activities or sponsor competitions to allow students to extend their learning.

  • Schools have the flexibility to create unique celebrations and activities to make the Patriot Program special for their communities.

We are proud to expand the Patriot Program to every elementary school in Harford County and thank families for supporting this exciting opportunity for our youngest learners.
